The technology marketed by Flowing Content™ as the BROADBAND-ENGINE™ offers complete, integrated solutions to target the B2B market and enables a full turnkey service packed to conduct all operations ranging from content acquisition to scheduling, encryption, delivery, usage tracking and reporting with advanced options for system administration and accounting.
The patent-pending technology implements a system for content distribution from a central point (server) to a group of users (client) over any telecoms network. The distribution is point to multipoint via the forward channel: control, reporting and accounting information of the distribution is sent back from the user's terminal to the central point via a return channel.
Forward and return channels can be any physical networks and not necessary the same.
The distribution is under the programmable command of the central point. The distribution is fully managed, data-format and network agnostic. Content usage is accounted for at the user's terminal and is reported back to the server.
- Traceability: is implemented via the tracking of 2 acknowledgments sent by the user to the central point: the first one when content is received; the second one when content is accessed (via decryption).
- Reliability: is implemented via a genuine decomposition into a set of 6 independent cross-interacting components to provide robustness and load-balancing. Content integrity is always preserved.
- Security: is implemented in a symmetric double-encryption scheme where both content itself is encrypted as well as its delivery stream on-the-fly. Groups of sites are granted for the reception of content.
- Accountability: is implemented with a comprehensive reporting management system of each content transaction performed by the users.
The delivery engine encompasses the set of 6 cross-interacting and independent components (Streamer, Mux, Scheduler, Monitor, Back, de-Mux).

- Streamer: content acquisition
- Mux: mixing of different content sources and forwarding
- Scheduler: transmission scheduling and bandwidth optimization
- Monitor: system monitoring
- Feedback: feedback management and return path
- User module: content reception, access monitoring and automatic reporting
Error correction, encryption/decryption, key exchange are implemented via external specialized library modules.
